Merging Hope
Linda (pictured right), the founder of Hope for Children MN, originally established the organization to raise legal funds for children being sexually abused by their caregivers. She built up such an amazing network of supporters. Sara served on the Board of Hope for Children and Rachel was involved with the organization before the merger.
Sara and Rachel had been unofficially doing domestic abuse advocacy together since 2017. In December 2020, they were involved in a urgent rescue that made them reconsider how they were helping women. During a vacation together in January 2021 (pictured right) they decided to form a non-profit. At the same time, Linda became unable to continue her work with Hope for Children.
After a series of discussions, Sara and Rachel were given the opportunity to take over the existing Hope for Children. In March 2021 they expanded the vision to include domestic abuse advocacy and changed the name to Gathering Hope MN. The existing clients and some board members made the transition to the newly named organization.
In 2024 Rachel resigned from her role as president. The organization is now run by Maddie, Lindsey, Tim, and Dawn.
